Awesome day at reCap — we hit “start” and made our first biochar.
That’s a milestone we’ve been working toward for a long time, and it feels great to finally see the system doing what it was designed to do.
Now the real fun begins. We’ll be spending the next few weeks tweaking, tuning, and optimizing everything so we can improve performance and keep building toward scale.
First biochar is a big win. The best is still ahead.
reCap joined UF/IFAS, USDA, and Central Florida growers to explore how biochar and compost can build healthier, more resilient Florida soils. We heard about EQIP funding, emerging citrus research from UF/IFAS, and how reCap’s OMRI‑listed, Fresh From Florida biochar can support growers statewide.
reCap kicks off day one at the Florida Association of Counties annual conference in Orange County, sharing our award-winning Leon County success and talking with county leaders about yard trash solutions.
reCap welcomed the Leon County Insights and Inputs group for its first open house, giving local residents a firsthand look at the operation.
