Names matter. Ours is doing a lot of work.
“reCap” stands for recapture—and that idea is at the core of everything we do.
We’re focused on recapturing value from materials that are usually treated as waste. That includes recovering usable resources from yard debris, preserving landfill space, and helping communities get more out of their waste management systems.
Because in our view, waste is only waste if we decide it is.
There’s also a second meaning built into the name.
The capital “C” stands for carbon. (Think back to your periodic table quiz in high school chemistry class.)
A major part of our process is capturing carbon that would otherwise be released as greenhouse gases—especially methane from decomposing organic waste. Instead of letting that carbon enter the atmosphere, we stabilize it and convert it into biochar, where it can be put to productive use.
So reCap represents two ideas at once:
- Recapturing value from waste
- Recapturing carbon from the waste stream
Same concept. Bigger impact.
